The Full Story
We are the Mutongas—Boniface, a Kenyan, and Amy, an American. Together, we are passionate about serving people, each uniquely made in the image of Christ. Nestled in the central highlands of Kenya, surrounded by lush tea fields, we feel a deep connection to the people and communities here.

But behind the beauty of these tea fields lies deep brokenness. Workers face grueling labor, low wages, and harsh living conditions, leaving families trapped in cycles of poverty. The injustices and hardships weigh heavily on our hearts, and while the challenges are immense, we know we’re called to respond. This is why Moved exists—to reflect Christ’s compassion and take action, bringing hope and restoration to those in need.

The heart behind Moved comes from Matthew 9:36, which says, “When Jesus saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were helpless and scattered, like sheep without a shepherd”. This passage reminds us that God’s heart is for people—those who may feel unseen, weary, or burdened—and it stirs us to reflect that same compassion in practical ways. The word moved captures not just how Jesus felt, but how His compassion spurred Him to act—and it’s this same response that fuels our mission.​

Our backgrounds reflect this heart for ministry. Boniface has years of experience in community ministry and currently serves as an associate pastor at our local church. Amy has worked with a nonprofit helping children rescued from trafficking as well as serving in church ministry roles. Together, we have been shaped by these experiences and are committed to seeing lives transformed for the glory of God.

Our work focuses on children, young adults, and their families. Whether they pursue education or step into the workforce, we are dedicated to removing barriers, providing support, and equipping them with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. For us, this is about more than meeting immediate needs; it’s about investing in lives with eternal significance.
